During this pandemic time, Social Studies work is not required for elementary students. However, inquiry into the areas of social studies should be pursued if students are interested. I will provide different learning opportunities here each week and if students are interested and have time, they can share with me what they learned and what stood out for them. Social Studies concepts for Grades 4 and 5 center around Canada's identity including political and physical regions and our country's history, BC's history in becoming a part of Canada, interactions between First Peoples and Europeans, and mostly importantly the Social Studies inquiry processes and skills like asking questions, gathering, interpreting, and analyzing ideas, and communicating findings and decisions.
