Students should aim to complete 20-45 minutes of math work daily. Each day can follow a routine like we would in the classroom (below), or you can make up whatever routine works best for you. Math work can be submitted by scanning or taking a picture and submitting through Google Classroom or by emailing me at [email protected]

Each week of the Daily Math will have students working on the 5 stands of math. If there are non-school days (ie. holidays) they should still try to complete those days when they have extra time to ensure they are practicing all types of math each week.

Use a new page for each day of the week and take a picture each day or at the end of the week of the week of all your work. You can submit these assignments through Google Classroom, or email them to me at [email protected]. Use the number of the day guide with example, the template, and/or the fillable document when completing the number of the day.
Monday: Number of the day: 4097 Task: If you added up the ages of everyone in your family, what would the total be? Estimate first, and then add. Was your estimate close? If you want a challenge, include the ages of your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and even your friends. Worksheet: Skip Counting 6
Tuesday: Number of the day: 2351 Task: Write down all the whole numbers from 1 to 10. Then, add all of the numbers together. Was there a strategy you used to make it easier? Try to add all of these: 10+20+30+40+50. Did you group the numbers in different ways to make it easier to solve? Ask a family member to try it and compare your methods! Wednesday: Number of the day: 5528 Task:Measure the perimeter and area of at least 3 windows in your home. Use a standard unit of measure (centimeters) and a non-standard unit of measure (hand, book, water bottle, etc). - ie. one of the windows in my house has a perimeter of 278 cm or 22 hands, and an area of 4590cm2 (85 x 54) or 28 hands2 (7 x 4). Thursday: Number of the day: 7283 Task: Draw a picture using only these shapes: Circles, triangles, and rectangles. Try to use at least 3 of each shape. Worksheet: Adding and Subtracting Time 2
Friday: Number of the day: 6465 Task: Pick 4 of something (movies, pizza toppings, ice cream flavours, video games, etc.). Ask everyone you can which of those 4 is their favourite and least favourite. Make a graph to show your results. Worksheet:Algebra Word Problems 5
